Freezer paper for trimming your stitcheries blocks up (I will provide) Lei
sure Arts Emb Guide #59019 Before Class 1. Prewash your white background f
abric 2. Cut background for blocks 19” x 19”. (I think this is too big
as you will be squaring it up to 13-1/2” x 13-1/2”. 3. Crease by fol
ding in half and half again to find center. 4. Fold pattern in half and ha

ing a Brown 01 Pigma Pen trace the pattern on the right side of the fabric
(If there is too much paint\, I will sometimes use the wrong side to trac
e and to color on.) 6. The pattern recommend you color the whole surface o
f the pattern lightly with white color. You may want to do the snow but no
t anything else as the colors will be lighter. I don’t use white because
I want the dye from the colors to be in the fabric and the white fills up
the fabric first. 7. Pour your box of crayons on the table and put in col
or families: red with reds\, blue with blues etc. and put them back in the
little white boxes. Pull the crayons for the block and put in a zip lok b

SUMMARY:Collage Quilt Class with Karen Gaither
DESCRIPTION:In this class we will explore the fabric collage technique that
defines the Laura Heine style quilts. We will spend time considering valu
e and contrast in an effort to add dimensional aspects to our pattern you
are making. This is a great class to learn not only a technique but also a
way of looking at how to select fabric and color for the right effect.\n\
nFeel free to work on any Laura Heine pattern or create your own pattern.
We can all swap fabric if you would like or order a Laura Heine Fabric
Kit from Laura’s Quilt Shop (fiberworks-heine.com or 406.656.6663). She
has packaged kits for many of her patterns\, only available from her shop.
\n\nLaura has new patterns &amp\; re-created some of her more popular patt
 erns in 16” x 20”. All 3 patterns are included.\n\n\n\nI recently orde
red the kit for the 32”w X 44”h Gingerbread House from Fiberworks\, af

SUMMARY:Make a Quilted Jacket from a Sweatshirt! w/Donna Petrick
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $140 - includes $100 Class Fee plus 2 Days in the Retreat
  Center - $40 + tax.\n\nThis is a 2-Part class - Saturday\, April 9th &amp
 \; Saturday\, April 30th.  It isn’t hard\, just takes some time to do t
he decorative quilting on the strips.  The first part will cover setting
up the fabric\, picking decorative stitches\, how to take apart your sweat
shirts and placing the fabric.  The homework will be to continue all the
decorative stitching – before and after placing sweatshirt pieces on the
fabric.  The second part will include reconstructing the sweatshirt\, fi
nishing the seams and hemming the jacket and sleeves to your preference.\n
\nSupply List\n\n~ Two sweatshirts\, one size larger than you normally wea
 r. Do not use raglan sleeve sweatshirts (I have an example of why not to u
se them)\n~ Two jelly rolls\, your color choice. It's best to select tight
 ly woven fabrics\, like batiks\, so they don't ravel easily.\n~ Matching a
nd contrasting thread to do the decorative stitching\n~ Sewing machine wit
h decorative stitch selections\n~ Basic sewing kit\, bring extra machine n
 eedles.\n~ Several strips of batting\, cut approximately 2 1/4” wide. I
use scraps from trimming quilts so I have some long lengths.  I will have

SUMMARY:Make a Quilted Jacket from a Sweatshirt! with Donna Petrick
DESCRIPTION:This is a 2-Part class - Saturdays\, Sept 24th\, &amp\; Oct 1st
.  It isn’t hard\, just takes some time to do the decorative quilting o
n the strips.  The first part will cover setting up the fabric\, picking
decorative stitches\, how to take apart your sweatshirts and placing the f
abric.  The homework will be to continue all the decorative stitching –
before and after placing sweatshirt pieces on the fabric.  The second pa
rt will include reconstructing the sweatshirt\, finishing the seams and he
mming the jacket and sleeves to your preference.\n\nSupply List\n\n~ Two s
weatshirts\, one size larger than you normally wear. Do not use raglan sle
eve sweatshirts (I have an example of why not to use them)\n~ Two jelly ro
lls\, your color choice. It's best to select tightly woven fabrics\, like
batiks\, so they don't ravel easily.\n~ Matching and contrasting thread to
do the decorative stitching\n~ Sewing machine with decorative stitch sele
ctions\n~ Basic sewing kit\, bring extra machine needles.\n~ Several strip
s of batting\, cut approximately 2 1/4” wide. I use scraps from trimming
quilts so I have some long lengths.  I will have some with me if you don
 ’t have any available.\n\nCost:\nClass Fee $100\nRetreat Center Fee $25/

SUMMARY:Orphan Blocks & Leftovers Class with MJ Fielek - Class is Full
DESCRIPTION:   \n\nAs of March 23\, 2023 this class is full!\nIf you would
like to be added to the waitlist\, contact us at 469-708-2378.\n\nSign up
to take this fun class with MJ Fielek!\n\nThe Orphan Blocks class will he
lp you clean your stash of all the leftover blocks\, half-square triangles
\, four-patches\, and all the unfinished projects from classes you’ve ta
ken! You can use embroidered linens\, old blocks\, etc. You will work with
value\, not color. This is a good quilt to use all those fabrics that you
do not like the color. Points don't matter\; if a block does not fit\, ad
d a strip or just cut it down in size. When the quilt is finished\, quilte
d and bound\, you will then dye it to a color of your choice.\n\nThe Lefto
vers quilt is designed to use all the strips that we cut after each projec
t intending to make a quilt out of them. We just sew all strip sizes toget
her in a unit and slash into sections at angles and add a small strip of c
olor or black and white. This is a great quilt with some strips of novelty
fabrics that we buy and never use. Black and white calms the other colors
\, brings the whole together\, and makes a quilt that has a modern feel.\n
\n\n\nMJ Fielek has been sewing since she was quite young. She taught sewi
ng and tailoring at Eastfield College and "Sewing with Knits" at Richardso
n High School. Her love turned to quilting in 1979 when she drafted and ma
de her first quilt. Over the years MJ has made hundreds of quilts. She ent
ered and was accepted in the Houston IQA show and won 2nd place in the 2-p
erson category. She has even traveled to Europe to the International Quilt
Expo and taken classes from many European teachers. Her whole house is on
e big quilting studio! MJ encourages students to take their skill to the n
ext level\, teaching intermediate to advanced construction classes. Her mo
tto: "I am your Bucket List Instructor."\n\n\nSUPPLY LIST:\n\n Bring all
your leftover blocks and projects from classes that you have taken and nev
er finished. I have also used embroiders that have been in family and that
I know my children will not keep. This is where you will use the ugly fab
ric that you have purchased and the color never seems right. We will use
this as sashing thru out the quilt.\n Also bring all the strips that you
cut from left over projects.\n Remember we will work with values not colo
r\, so color does not matter.  Everything will be dyed and take on a diff
erent look.\n Machine in good working order with bobbins filled\n This i
s the place to use all the color thread that you have on hand and will nev
er use.\n Cutter mat\, cutter\, ruler and basic sewing supplies\n Flanne
l back plastic table cloth to arrange blocks.  I also bring pins to pin b
locks to table cloth if you don’t get yours finished or if you have a ce
ll phone you can just take pictures for reference when you get home to fin
ish the top.\n\nCost:\nWORKSHOP FEE: $25\ndoes not include Retreat Center
Fee\, which allows you to sew from opening to close\nRetreat Center Fee $2
5/day plus tax or $27.06 (or use 1 of your prepaid days!)\nIncludes 1 full
day in the Retreat Center - 9am-9pm! Instruction time will be from 10am-2
 pm.\nRegister Here!\n&nbsp\;
