Taught by Certified Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx Instructor Michael Davison

Technique of the Month is an exclusive Quiltworx pattern that is only available to purchase and be taught by Judy Niemeyer Quiltworx Certified Instructors and Certified Shops. A new Technique of the Month is released every two years and will eventually retire as new ones are released. CORAL REEF (wall version 80” x 80”) is a 7-part series taking place over 7 consecutive months, giving students time to prep before each month’s booklet and includes an optional Any Judy Workday prior to each new lesson if more time is needed to catch up.

CORAL REEF includes many of Judy’s techniques for paper piecing, including cutting, stacking, chain piecing, curved piecing, strip piecing, smart corners, appliqué, the use of Transition and Registration Point (TRP) Lines, and curved paper piecing. This exciting design takes inspiration from the world’s most beautiful coral reefs, showcasing dynamic movement and curves that sway with the tides.

This pattern looks fantastic in a variety of fabric colorways ranging from batiks, to cotton prints, to solids and ombre.

Inspiration can be found on the Coral Reef page of the Quiltworx site. QUILTSTER (quiltster.com) is an web-based application that is used to color Quiltworx patterns. It is a great place to try out different fabric combinations to prepare for making this amazing quilt. Once you register for the class through Best Little Retreat Center and purchase your pattern through Michael, he can give you a discount code for $10 off Quiltster (one month free). Optional fabric kits will be available – purchasing link will be provided upon registration.
